Two people have been shot after they reportedly attempted to rob an armed delivery driver.

The incident was reported in Philadelphia just after midnight.

Officials say the driver was in the process of dropping off food to his family when three suspects approached him and attempted to rob him.

The driver then pulled out his gun and shot two of the three suspects several times, while the other fled the scene.

One of the suspects was said to have died had the hospital after being struck in the chest while the second suspect remains in the hospital in critical condition.

Authorities reported that the delivery driver was licensed to carry the gun.

One person was arrested.

The investigation is ongoing.
