(Manchester, NH)– The daughter of an MLB Hall of Famer has been arrested after she allegedly hid  her newborn baby in the woods and misled investigators.
26-year-old Alexandra Eckersley, daughter of Dennis Eckersley, was taken into custody on Monday.
Authorities say they received a call around 12:40 a.m. regarding a homeless woman who had given birth to a baby in a tent in the woods.
Despite being given a location of the infant, authorities say they combed the area for over an hour and could not find it:
“The search was difficult. It was dark, we had cold temperatures—about 18 degrees last night and we were not getting accurate information,” Manchester Fire District Chief John Starr said
After about an hour of searching, Eckersley revealed the correct location of the infant.
Authorities say the baby boy was found alone in a tent suffering from hypothermia.
He was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where his condition is improving.
Eckersley is expected to be arraigned in court on a charge of felony reckless conduct for hiding the baby.
