Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava ordered the Russian tri-color flag be taken off display at county run Miami International Airport on Thursday morning.

The flags of numerous nations are displayed in locations throughout the airport including outside of the main departure area and inside the terminals.

Currently, flights originating in Russia are banned from entering the United States.

The Russian flag and anthem was banned from last year’s Summer Olympics in Tokyo and more recently was not permitted to fly at FIFA soccer events.

Mayor Levine Cava has asked county agencies doing business abroad to make sure none are involved in any dealings with Russia.
