
LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL– A suspect who reportedly opened fire on another person from inside of a Walmart store has been taken into custody.
The incident occurred Tuesday, shortly after 2 p.m., at a store located at 3001 N. State Road 7.
According to the report, the shooter, now identified as Tironie Shavar Sterling fled the scene on a scooter but was later located by police and taken into custody.
Officials say Sterling is an employee of the store but went to the establishment to meet a female employee.
According to the report, Sterling and the other employee got into an argument that escalated into a physical altercation.
During the altercation, Sterling reportedly dropped a gun. He then picked up the gun and attempted to steal the woman’s phone.
A male customer saw the altercation and attempted to assist the woman.
Sterling was said to have shot the customer multiple times and fled the scene.
The customer was airlifted to a hospital where he later died.
Sterling is now facing a first-degree murder and an armed robbery by sudden snatching charge.
