PORT ST. LUCIE, FL– The Port St. Lucie sheriff’s office is investigating child abuse allegations at a daycare after a 2-year-old boy was allegedly held under a running faucet because he was crying.
Authorities began investigating the allegations after they were contacted by The Florida Department of Children and Families.
According to the report, the incident occurred over a month ago at the Chesterbrook Academy in Tradition.
The child’s mother, who is also a teacher at the school, told our news partners at WPTV that she was just told about the incident recently:
“You failed me and you failed my son, and I’m three doors down. They had plenty of opportunities,” Melanie Caramma said. “If they were scared to lose their job, they could have told me separately.”
The teacher responsible for the incident has been fired from the job, however, Caramma says two aides in the classroom did not stop the incident from occurring and hesitated to say anything afterward.
The Chesterbrook Academy is working with authorities as they continue their investigation.
