Boone, NC– A North Carolina man is behind bars after a herd of cows led police to his location after he attempted to hide from them in the pasture.
The incident occurred last Tuesday, following a traffic stop and high-speed chase in Boone, North Carolina.
Boone police say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect, later identified as Joshua Minton, when he fled the scene.
Watauga County deputies then joined in on the chase.
Minton eventually ditched his vehicle near US Hwy 421 and US Hwy 221 in Deep Gap and fled on foot into an undeveloped field.
Authorities reported that they lost track of Minton when he ran into the field, however, as they began searching the field, they received help from an unexpected place:
“The cows literally led the officers to where the suspect was hiding.”
Minton was taken into custody and is facing several charges including felony flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, driving with license revoked, and disorderly conduct.
He is expected to face those charges in June.
