A grand jury in Volusia County handed down a two count murder indictment against 32 year old Jean Robert Macean on Wednesday.
He is charged with premeditated 1st degree murder in the deaths of Terry Aultman, age 48, and Brenda Aultman, 55, during the annual Bike Week festival in Daytona Beach on March 6.
“These were brutal, vicious, violent murders,” Florida State Attorney R.J. Larizza said at a press conference.
The married couple were found along a Daytona Beach roadside the early morning hours of March 6th, they had both been stabbed repeatedly and their throats were slashed.
According to the state attorney, the Aultmans were heading home from Bike Week when they were apparently picked at random by their killer.
Macean was identified as a person of interest in the case and four days later he was arrested at his Orlando apartment where evidence tying him to the crime was discovered.
He will be arraigned on the premeditated murder charges on Thursday however the state attorney has not yet disclosed if his office will seek the death penalty.
