After the pilot of a single-engine Cessna Caravan became incapacitated during a flight from the Bahamas, a passenger took over the controls and brought the plane in for a safe landing at Palm Beach International Airport on Wednesday.

The passenger had no previous flight experience and was guided in via radio by air traffic controllers.

The plane touched down at PBIA at 12:37 PM, an hour and a half after leaving from the Bahamian town of Marsh Harbor in the Abacos.

Emergency responders were prepared for the plane’s arrival and paramedics transported one person to the hospital.

Their status is not known at this time.

Only two people were aboard at the time of the incident but their names have not yet been released.
