Comedian, actor Gilbert Gottfried dies at 67

Gilbert Gottfried, who rose to fame as a stand-up comic and later as a film and television actor died Tuesday from a ‘long illness’ according to a tweet posted to his official account by his family.

He was 67.

The Brooklyn, NY native started his career at 15 years old and later became a cast member on Saturday Night Live in the early 80s.

He went on to be featured in numerous comedic roles including Beverly Hills Cop 2, the Problem Child movies and most notably as a voice actor in 1992’s Aladdin and its animated spinoff series.

Gottfried was a favorite guest of Howard Stern on his radio show and hosted his own podcast called Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast.

He was married to Dara Kravitz, an entertainment executive, and together they had 2 children.

His sister, photographer Arlene Gottfried, preceded him in 2017.
