The United States Coast Guard in Miami has suspended the search for a man and woman whose small plane went down in the waters off Big Pine Key last Sunday.

37 year old West Palm Beach resident Thomas “Tommy” Campana was flying the single engine Vans RV-12 airplane along with his girlfriend Alexandra “Ali” Tufo of New York from Lantana to Key West when they disappeared from radar approximately 15 miles from shore.

Coast Guard officials and divers from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of the area where the plane was last spotted and turned up wreckage from the RV-12 but no human remains.

Tufo is the sister of A&E TV star Lana Tufo from the show Flip Wars, who released the following statement on her Facebook page: “I’m grieving my sister, who was my best friend and my “twin born two years earlier” as she called herself. A part of my soul went down with that plane.”
