A 10-year-old boy is currently recovering in the hospital after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bike.
The incident was reported in Coral Springs on Sunday.
The victim’s mother says her son was riding his bike with family members when a driver in a truck drove onto the sidewalk where the child was, struck him, and then left the scene.
“I can’t understand how somebody can hit a child and just leave them for dead. Whoever it was came on the sidewalk where he was and hit him and just left,” the mother said.
A witnessed thankfully pulled over and contacted police.
First responders resuscitated the child before airlifting him to Broward Health Medical Center where he has undergone multiple surgeries.
As of Tuesday, the driver has turned himself in but it is unclear what potential charges the driver will face.
