Child almost taken in Jupiter while walking home

(JUPITER, FL)– Authorities are currently searching for the suspect who reportedly grabbed an elementary student as she was walking home from school.
The incident was reported around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday near Jerry Thomas Elementary School.
Officials say the child was on the sidewalk on Central Boulevard, at the entrance of the Chasewood South residential community, when a man she didn’t know grabbed her.
The child was able to fight off the man and ran away.
The suspect was also said to have fled the scene.
Authorities are describing the suspect as a man between the ages of 20-30, who appeared to be Hispanic and is between 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6.
He was wearing a long-sleeve gray shirt, blue jeans, a black baseball hat, and a black medical face mask.
The Jupiter Police Department has increased its patrols in the area as a precaution.
