Most NFL players celebrate Super Bowl victories by partying through the night. Some commemorate the win by going to Disneyland.
And in the case of Derrick Nnadi, he’s marking his team’s victory by buying a bunch of dogs for Kansas City residents.
The Chiefs player has offered to pay adoption fees for all the dogs currently residing at the KC Pet Project shelter, the agency revealed Monday on Facebook.
“Kansas City is on cloud nine this morning with last night’s win and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Derrick Nnadi on this wonderful initiative,” says Tori Fugate, KC Pet Project’s chief communications officer.
Nnadi’s gesture doesn’t mark the first time he’s coughed up adoption fees to help Kansas City dogs find homes. He’s paid for one each time the Chiefs won throughout the season.
“All of the dogs sponsored have found forever homes as a result,” Fugate says. “Thanks to his incredible support, more than 100 available dogs in our care will have their adoption fees sponsored starting today.”
Nnadi says helping out canines is “the perfect way to cap off this great season.”
