(CHICAGO, IN)– An Indiana-based Catholic school teacher was taken into custody on Thursday after authorities say she created a ‘kill list’ with the names of both students and staff members on it.
Officials began investigating 5th-grade teacher Angelica Carrasquillo-Torres of St. Stanislaus School on Wednesday after one of her students told a counselor that the teacher mentioned killing herself and others.
“She said that she wanted to kill her middle school friends, her high school friends, and half of her family,” the girl told reporters with the permission of her father.
The 25-year-old teacher also told the student that her name was on the list but that it was at the bottom.
The school reported that they removed the teacher from the classroom for the day.
She was then kept under supervision in the principal’s office before she was eventually allowed to go home and told not to return.
The teacher was arrested Thursday morning after authorities obtained an emergency detention order.
According to the report, authorities were not told about the incident until after the teacher left the school.
The school made the decision to move to an e-learning platform for the rest of the week due to the situation.
