(FLORIDA) — California’s governor, Gavin Newsom, called out Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis, on his home turf in a targeted television ad.
At least the assault on DeSantis was implied without Newsom mentioning his name.
Newsom began running TV ads on FOX News in Florida over the July Fourth weekend.
In the commercial, Newsom tells voters in the Sunshine State to move to California if they are fed up with GOP policies and laws in Florida.
We’re about to celebrate Independence Day — but Freedom is under attack by Republican leaders in states like Florida.
Banning books.
Restricting speech.
Making it harder to vote.
Criminalizing women and doctors.
It’s time to stand up. Don’t let them take your freedom. pic.twitter.com/cFI5UzgZzX— Gavin Newsom (@GavinNewsom) July 3, 2022
Newsom implies Governor Ron DeSantis is on the wrong track by “banning books, making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms even criminalizing women and doctors.”
DeSantis is a potential 2024 GOP candidate for the White House.
Newsom has not declared that he is running for president in 2024, but could change his mind if President Biden declines to run for a second term.
