Canadian doctors have devised a calculator that computes the date of your death, or the demise of your loved ones.
The RESPECT calculator predicts deaths within five years based on declines in daily activities such as bathing and walking-which are typically stronger predictors of mortality than diagnoses of disease.
RESPECT is an acronym for “Risk Evaluation for Support: Predictions for Elder-Life in the Community,” and it makes it easier for adult children to plan ahead when it comes to taking a final vacation together or taking time off work.
"The RESPECT calculator predicts frail people’s survival to assist caregivers in deciding what type of care and services they may need at the end of their life.” – writes @MobiHealthNews.#RESPECT #endoflifecare #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth

The calculator is based on data from 491,000 older people’s daily habits over a six-year period. It debuted this week in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, following a pilot program in Ontario.
If there is one thing that we learned from the pandemic, it's the importance of planning for things that may come. @projectbiglife's newest calculator, RESPECT, was designed to help frail, older adults plan for the care that they need, especially as they approach the end of life. pic.twitter.com/7hbFav0LHy
