Authorities in Miami are currently on the scene of a building collapse that left several people injured.

The incident occurred on a construction site in the area of Brickell Avenue near 9th Street.

Officials are reporting that they believe a cane was lifting a rebar when it snapped causing several concrete slabs to fall from the building and on to at least five people.

The victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with various injuries.

Authorities have shut down Brickell avenue between 8th and 9th street as the investigation continues.
