Broward couple arrested on child neglect charges after kids found dirty and hungry in car

BROWARD COUNTY, FL– A couple is facing child cruelty charges after their children were found in the back of a vehicle dirty, hungry, and sleep deprived.
Police say they were called to the Miramar Parkway Plaza at 3190 S. University Drive around 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 1st after a passerby saw the three children in the car.
Police spoke to the children who told them that they had been in the car for at least five days and couldn’t remember the last time they ate or showered.
Authorities also spoke to the children’s parents 45-year-old George Daniel Detezanos and 35-year-old Ciara Michelle Detezanos.
Both adults were said to have had trouble standing up and had slurred speech.
They also both reportedly had trouble staying awake.
Ciara admitted to purchasing cocaine which she believes was actually fentanyl.
Police also noticed that there were several pill bottles within reach of the children.
The children were taken into child protective services while the parents were taken to the Broward County Jail.
George is faing child neglect charges and is being held on a $1,500 bond. Ciara is facing child neglect and contempt of court charges. She is being held on a $17,500. Records show that Ciara was arrested prior to the incident in Pasco County for kidnapping. That judge ordered her to have no contact with her children.
