Broward County Sheriff’s Office Deputy arrested for stealing from purse

FORT LAUDERDALE–
A Broward County Sheriff’s Office Deputy has been arrested after he allegedly stole money from a lost purse.
Deputy Michael Spencer who works his shifts at the Fort Lauderdale- Hollywood International Airport, was taken into custody on Friday during a sting operation.
Authorities say an undercover officer handed Deputy Spencer a purse with more than $1,500 inside.
The deputy reportedly kept the money inside the purse and threw the purse away.
Officials say he managed to spend $200 of the money but, the rest was recovered.
The Deputy was arrested and charged with one count of grand theft between $750 and $5000.
He is also charged with committing a felony with a weapon.
