HALLANDALE BEACH, FL- 13 Tesla model Y electric vehicles will be hitting the road in south Broward County as police cars for the city of Hallandale Beach.
The department will be issuing a dozen of the EVs to detectives and the remaining car will be tested as a patrol vehicle.
Thus far, it it the largest deployment of electric vehicles by a Florida police department.
Other police agencies around the county have added Teslas to their fleets including Dallas County, Texas, Spokane, Washington and Kansas City, Missouri.
Reviews have been mixed with Spokane officers complaining to local media about cramped interior space and insufficient battery power for demanding daily use.
Over 90 officers patrol the city of 40,000 south of Hollywood.
