Boynton Beach woman on her way to compete in the Tokyo Olympics

Jessica Ramsey won first place in the shot put at the Olympic trials, and will compete next month in Tokyo.
Ramsey is a Boynton Beach High School graduate and won first place in shot put with a record breaking throw.

“I’m still like, wow,” Ramsey said.

After not making the world team last year, she said this moment was even sweeter.

“I cried, cried, cried,” Ramsey said. “And then I didn’t make the world team last year.”

Ramsey said she has been training hard, and refuses to give up on her dream.

“Coming in the top three would be great, but I am going for the gold.”

The Tokyo Olympics begin on July 23.
