After only 4 years on the job, Boynton Beach Police Chief Michael G. Gregory is stepping down.

He made the announcement Friday on the department’s website.

“I am very proud of the many accomplishments achieved with the outstanding women and men in the Boynton Beach Police Department during my nearly 4-year tenure,” Chief Gregory said.

Gregory stated the decision was a personal one based on “wanting to take time to increase attention and focus on other areas of his life,” according to a published statement.

He spent much of his career with the Fort Lauderdale Police Dept. where he served in a number of command positions before being sworn in as the Boynton chief in 2018.

Deputy Chief Vanessa Snow as the Interim Police Chief will take over on April 22, which is slated to be Gregory’s last day at the helm of the department.
