First the police chief resigns and now Boynton Beach City Council has fired City Manager Lori LaVerriere, according to Mayor Ty Penserga.
Boynton Beach Police Chief Michael Gregory recently stepped down as the department and city council deflect criticism following the death of a 13-year-old who crashed his dirt bike during as police tried to pull him over.
According to FHP, Stanley Davis III was killed during a traffic stop on Dec. 26, 2021, when he crashed his dirt bike into a median on US 1.
The FHP found that Davis was speeding in excess of 85 mph and that Boynton police made no physical contact with him during the pursuit.
Boynton Beach police are conducting an internal investigation of the deadly crash and how it was handled.
No reason was given as to why the council fired the city manager.
