(BOYNTON BEACH, Florida)– Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man threatening to harm himself in Boynton Beach Saturday.

Officials with the PBSO said the man had an altercation with his girlfriend, then barricaded himself inside an apartment alone armed with a machete and a firearm.

The ARIUM Boynton Beach complex, located west of Florida’s Turnpike on Town Harbour Blvd, was then evacuated and the neighborhood was put on lockdown.

In response to the incident, a bomb squad and crisis team was dispatched.

The unidentified man was then detained, and the PBSO said he had a criminal past in California.

Charges for the incident are pending.
