(BAHAMAS) — At least 17 Haitian migrants, including an infant, are dead after their over-crowded boat capsized near the Bahamas, officials said Sunday.

This marks the latest deadly incident involving migrants at sea as more people try to enter the U.S. by boat in illegal smuggling operations, according to border patrol.
The Bahamian Prime Minister confirms that among the dead are a toddler, 15 women and 1 man.
Border Patrol estimates that up to 200 migrants were on board, many of whom are believed to be Haitian.
