UPDATE: A friend is charged with killing a beautiful Stuart mother and dumping her body in a canal in Martin County.

Jupiter Farms 45-year-old Eric Westergard was arrested this weekend for the death of 23-year-old Perrin Damron whose body was found floating in an Indiantown waterway.

“We were very suspicious of him. There was never a point where we were able to eliminate him from suspicion and the suspicion grew as the case continued,” said Martin County Sheriff William Snyder.

Detectives interviewed Westergard and went to his Jupiter Farms home as part of the investigation.

“Through their investigation, the suspect made incriminating statements. There was some physical evidence found at the house,” said Martin County Sheriff William Snyder.

Detectives were led to the canal in Indiantown, where they found Damron’s body. She leaves behind an infant son.

She was reported missing after she didn’t pick up her child from the child’s father’s house Saturday night.

Her vehicle and all of her belongings were still at her home during the search for her.

There’s no word on a motive.
