PORT ST. LUCIE, FL– The search for a missing 93-year-old woman has ended after her body was discovered in an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway Saturday night.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department reported that they received a call from the occupants of a home on SE Bowie St. stating that they discovered a dead woman in the backseat of their vehicle around 8:40 p.m.
The victim was later identified as Ana Delacruz.
Delacruz, who had advanced-stage Alzheimers, was reported missing Friday morning after she managed to get out of a gated backyard of her home on SE Melaleuca Blvd.
Authorities say she went walking eastbound.
The Port St. Lucie Police and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office joined forces to locate Delacruz but she was nowhere to be found.
According to reports, Delacruz is from New Jersey and was recently moved to the area.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this extremely sad and difficult time,” the Port St. Lucie Police Department says.
