Officials in Wisconsin announced that they have located the body of a 10-year-old girl who went missing on Sunday.
The body of Iliana “Lily” M. Peters was found on Monday in a wooded area a few blocks from her aunts house.
Authorities say they were notified by Peters’ father after the child failed to return home after a visit with her aunt.
Officials eventually found her bike a few blocks away from her aunt’s house.
Chippewa Falls Police are investigating Peters’ death as a homicide.
They also reported that they believe there may be an increased danger to the public.
Police said Tuesday that there would be an “increased law enforcement presence” around Chippewa Falls schools. “We will be increasing our patrol especially during drop-off and pick-up times,” they said.
The case is under investigation. No arrests have been made so far.
