(EGMONT KEY, FLA) — A woman’s body was found stuffed in a trash bag off Florida’s Gulf Coast over the weekend.
Fishermen were spearfishing 13 miles off the coast of Egmont Key when at around 12:40 p.m. Saturday, they discovered a trash bag, according to St. Petersburg police.
Upon cutting open the bag, the witnesses made a distress call after identifying skin and what was believed to be a ‘bra strap or bikini.’
The St. Petersburg Police Department and Coast Guard responded to the scene to retrieve the body.
The woman, who is reportedly middle-aged, has not yet been identified by authorities.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation took over the investigation, since the woman was found in federal waters.
