Police in Port St. Lucie were summoned to the area of Floresta Drive and Prima Vista Blvd. Wednesday after the body of a man was found floating in a canal behind a home.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office identified him as 32 year old Daniel Pastor, who was reported missing by his mother on Sunday.

Mascara said there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.

The find was initially reported by a homeowner to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission after mistaking it for a dead manatee.

When FWC arrived and realized it was in fact a dead man they reported it to police.

St. Lucie Sheriff Ken Mascara is referring to the death as ‘suspicious’ and is awaiting word from the medical examiner’s office as to the cause of death.
