A Kentucky mother and her boyfriend have been arrested after authorities located the body of her 4-year-old daughter.
According to the report, Serenity Ann McKinney had not been seen by family members since Christmas eve of 2020.
Despite family members not being able to see the child, they did not report her missing to authorities until February of this year after they became concerned for her safety.
“She wouldn’t FaceTime with me and Serenity. She wouldn’t let me see her. That’s when we started thinking, you know, something’s really not right. And we’re very scared,” Serenity’s grandmother, Aundria Wainscott.
After an investigation, Kentucky State Police say they located the child’s body in a wooded area on Friday. An autopsy was to be conducted Saturday morning at the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville, however, her cause of death has not been announced at this time.
Serenity’s mother, 21-year-old Catherine McKinney, and her mother’s boyfriend, 26-year-old Dakota Hill, were already serving time at the Shelby County Detention Center on charges of custodial interference.
They are now also charged with murder and abuse of a corpse.
