Bars, movie theaters allowed to reopen in Florida; South Florida excluded

During a Wednesday news update Governor Ron DeSantis announced that bars and movie theaters across the state of Florida can reopen starting on Friday, except for Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

Florida is officially ready to enter “Phase Two” of its reopening plan.

Under the new reopening guidelines, which take effect on Friday, movie theaters, bars, nightclubs and concert venues will be able to operate at 50% capacity.

Gymnasiums and stores will be allowed to expand their capacity.

The second phase applies to all Florida counties except those with the highest COVID-19 case count: Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.

“Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach may seek approval, have a plan, submit it through the mayor or county administrator,” DeSantis said. “They’re on a little bit different schedule.”
