Officials in Miami-Dade County are reporting that a woman allegedly set herself on fire in an effort to end her life.

The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Monday in the area of Northeast Miami Court and 211th Street in Miami Gardens.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews say they responded to the scene after witnesses reported a woman was on fire.

The woman was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital with severe burns.

Investigators say they learned that the woman was attempting to end her life.
