TEMPLE TERRACE, FL– The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after a person was found dead inside of an apartment on Tuesday. 

Police say they received a wellness check call on Feb. 28 about a resident in the Avenue Apartments.

When authorities arrived to the unit shortly after 9:30 p.m., they discovered one person dead and an infant unharmed. 

The body has been turned over to the medical examiner’s office.  

“As hard as it is for our detectives, deputies, and CSIs to investigate any death, it is especially heartbreaking when a child is involved,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends impacted as we work to get answers in what happened inside this home.”

Hillsborough Child Protective Services is currently working with the family to find a safe home for the child.
