PORT ST. LUCIE, FL– The Martin County Sheriff’s Office has revealed the cause of death of a 26-year-old middle school teacher who was killed in a murder-suicide.
Authorities are reported that Amanda Hicks was stabbed to death by her fiancé who then went on to shoot himself.
The bodies were discovered at 11:45 a.m., on May 27th after a relative of the fiancé contacted police to perform a welfare check.
The relative reported that Hicks’ fiancé contacted them around 11:50 p.m. and while on the phone, they heard what appeared to be a single gunshot.
When the relative attempted to contact him the next morning, they could not.
Authorities arrived at the Peacock Run Apartments and found both Hicks and her fiancé dead inside of the apartment.
Officials also reported that the couple’s 10-month-old baby was found unharmed in the crib.
According to the report, the baby had been left alone for approximately 11 hours until officers forced entry into the home.
