The incident occurred in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood.

According to the report, the woman was walking her dog near 2900 NE 7th Ave when she bent down to pick up her dog’s poop.

That’s when a man now identified as 62-year-old William Carroll, came up from behind, pushed her against the wall, and squeezed her neck.

Carroll then reportedly removed her watch and bracelets as the woman screamed.

A person on a nearby balcony witnessed the assault and yelled out to Carroll. Carroll then told the witness to “shut up” before grabbing the victim’s backpack and fleeing the area.

Officials later received a call about a man fitting Carroll’s description walking down northbound on Northeast Second Avenue near 32nd Street.

When authorities made contact with the suspect, they were able to identify Carroll because he still had dog poop stain on his shirt.

He was taken into custody where both the witness and the victim both further identified him as the suspect.

Carroll is now facing charges of armed robbery and battery.
