The 2021 Atlantic hurricane season officially comes to an end today…the third busiest in history with 21 named storms, 14 is average…and the fourth most costly.
🌀 END OF HURRICANE SEASON
The 2021 #HurricaneSeason was the 3rd most active on record, behind 2020 and 2005. There were 21 named storms, 7 hurricanes, and 4 major hurricanes (Cat. 3 or higher.) Strongest hurricane was Ida, which made landfall in Louisiana in August. pic.twitter.com/Du1Iic4eYp— Christine Ferreira (@ChristineWGAL) November 30, 2021
Over half a dozen storms made landfall this year, mostly along the Gulf coast, and they caused a lot of damage, especially from tornadoes, beginning with Claudette which swept onshore in Louisiana in late June.
The National Hurricane Center says there was no named storm activity from October 3rd to October 30th and November was extremely dry.
