Atlanta woman fatally stabbed while walking dog in Piedmont Park

How can the park be a dangerous place?

A woman who was walking her dog in an Atlanta park was stabbed to death, the police said.

Officers identified the woman as Katherine Janness, 40 and her dog were found dead in the park around 1 a.m.

Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Charles Hampton described the scene as “gruesome.”

Police are still searching for the suspect.

A police source also said that Janness had dinner with her wife Tuesday night and then said she was going out to walk the dog. Janness lived about a mile from Piedmont Park.

The wife pinged her phone when she didn’t return home.

The killing has left people who use the park frightened and disturbed.

Investigators are offering a reward of 10,000.
