Authorities in Sacramento are reporting that at least six people are dead and 12 are hospitalized in an early morning shooting rampage.

Sacramento police are hunting for whoever opened fire downtown Sunday morning, killing the six people.

Sacramento Police spokesman Zach Eaton acknowledges social media video showing young people fighting before the gunfire.

The shooting happened outside the El Santo Restaurant early today.  A police tweet says 16 shooting victims have been located, six of whom are dead.  A big chunk of downtown Sacramento is closed down. Police will be giving more updates later today.

The shooting occurred in the downtown area that features several popular bars and restaurants.

Officials initially tweeted at they located 15 victims of the shooting.

At least six of them were reported dead and 12 are injured.

No motive for the shooting has been established and Sacramento police chief Kathy Lester said no suspect is in custody yet.

Amateur video that appears to be from the scene shows a brawl before several shots were fired:

Police are asking potential witnesses to submit any photos or video that may help identify the shooter.

An eight-block area has been roped off by police as they conduct their investigation.

This is a developing story.
