
The iconic, brightly painted Southernmost buoy in Key West enters the new year with a huge scorch mark after someone lit a Christmas tree on fire near it.
Key West police are searching for two white males who allegedly marred the monument by torching the offending tree after New Year’s Eve had passed.

The fire occurred sometime around 3 a.m. Saturday and unfortunately caused extensive damage to the anchored concrete buoy before it was extinguished by Key West fire fighters.
