The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the death of a woman who was found floating in a canal.

Marcus Rosier was arrested on Saturday in connection with the death of 33-year-old Maria Guadalupe Romo.

Authorities say Romo’s body was found inside of a canal in the area of 28th Avenue near 41st Street Friday after someone reported a “creepy” amount of buzzards in the area.

Police say they had been attempting to locate Romo for several days due to a welfare check request.

It is unclear what led authorities to Rosier, however, he has been arrested and is facing three felony charges of tampering with evidence, two counts of abuse of a dead body, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
