Arrest made in the fatal shooting of a FWC officer

Authorities are reporting that they have made arrest in murder of an off-duty Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer in LaBelle.

20-year-old Eliceo Hernandez was arrested Monday in connection with the fatal shooting.

According to the report, 30-year-old Officer Julian Keen Jr. was found dead Sunday morning near Apache Circle and Nobles Road.

A witness told the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office that Officer Keen witnessed a reckless driver and then got into his truck to go and follow him.

At some point, Keen confronted Hernandez and was later shot.

Hernandez has since been charged with murder and is currently been held on a $500,000 bond.
