Authorities in Fort Pierce have arrested a suspect in the hit-and-run that left a 10-year-old dead at a bus stop.
Officials announced on Friday that they arrested 22-year-old Arianna Aleja Colon of Okeechobee.
Colon reportedly turned herself in at the St. Lucie County Jail this afternoon for the dead of 10-year-old Yaceny Berenice Rodriguez-Gonzalez.
Authorities say Rodriguez-Gonzalez was crossing the street to get onto her bus when Colon drove through the school bus stop sign and crossing arms. She then struck the 10-year-old and continued driving.
Investigators discovered the vehicle later in the week and reported that they had a person of interest in the case.
It is unclear if Colon was the person of interest.
She has since been arrested and is facing charges of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash involving the death of a human. Her bond is set at $210,000.
