JUPITER, FL– A local aerial photographer was expecting to film blacktip sharks migrating this weekend but instead found an alligator swimming in the ocean.
The rare situation unfolded on Saturday just north of Jupiter inlet on Jupiter island.
Nick Serrano posted a video showing the large animal swimming in the surf.
According to officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, alligators can tolerate salt water for short periods of time but prefer freshwater lakes, slow-moving rivers, and brackish water.
