The adoptive parents of a missing 6-year-old have been arrested after an investigation into the child’s disappearance and murder.
The Honolulu Police Department is reporting that they have arrested Isaac and Lehua Kalua on Thursday.
According to the report, the Kalua’s reported their daughter missing on September 13th, a day after the couple says they last saw the child.
Authorities, however, found evidence that the child is no longer alive and may have been killed in mid-August.
“We believe that Ariel was killed by her adoptive parents in August of 2021, and then approximately four weeks later is when we received the missing person report, in September,” HPD’s Maj. Ben Moszkowicz said.
While authorities have not yet found the child’s body, they reported that they believe the child’s parents are solely responsible for the child’s death.
This is a developing story.
