
(INDIAN RIVER, Florida)– An accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV has left one man dead over the weekend, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The collision happened on Saturday, around 9:15 p.m. by the 6100 block of State Road 60, west of the Indian River Commons shopping area entrance.
The operator of the motorcycle, a 36-year-old male from Stuart, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, a 60-year-old man from Vero Beach, was unharmed.
According to the highway patrol, the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet when he rear-ended the SUV, flinging him from his vehicle.
Florida Highway Patrol has not released the names of those involved in the incident and their investigation as to what may have happened is ongoing.
The deadly accident will have been at least the third death of a motorcyclist in and around Vero Beach this year.
