NEW YORK- After a nearly 3 decade decline, abortion numbers are on the rise again.

A report issued by the Guttmacher Institute, an abortion rights research group, showed an 8% increase in abortions since 2018.

At that time, CDC numbers showed 862,320 abortions had been carried out in the United States.

The numbers jumped to over 900,000 abortions in 2020, revealing a little more than one in five pregnancies ended in abortion that year.

In Florida, 70,083 abortions were carried out in 2018 and jumped sharply to 79,817 in 2021, a 13% increase according to the Agency for Healthcare Administration.

A number of states have enacted stricter laws regarding abortion and a case that could possibly overturn the landmark Roe. v. Wade decision is before the U.S. Supreme Court.

The decision on the case may come as early as this summer, however an draft decision leaked earlier this year points to it being overturned.
