(HOBE SOUND, Florida)– A man has died after suffering multiple stab wounds on Saturday, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Christine Weiss, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said that at around 6 p.m., deputies responded to a call involving a stabbing at a home in the Preserve, a gated community off of Sea Branch Boulevard in Hobe Sound.

Once deputies arrived, they were able to locate a man suffering from multiple stab wounds and he was quickly airlifted to the nearest hospital.

The victim later succumbed to his wounds.

The sheriff’s office says the suspect, who was known to the victim, fled the scene before the deputies arrived, and detectives are actively looking for them.

The victim’s name has not been released.
