84-Year-Old Boynton Beach Man Charged with Possessing, Viewing Child Porn

An 84-year-old Boynton Beach man is charged with six counts of possessing and viewing child pornography, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Arnold Paul Weinstein was booked into the county jail on Monday, and left there Tuesday on $60,000 bond.

He has a hearing scheduled for Sept. 17 in circuit court.

The sheriff’s report states that last March, a PBSO detective who was working with the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children task force found and downloaded six video files that showed children between the ages of 5 and 13 being sexually assaulted.

A search linked the internet address back to Weinstein. He initially denied knowing about such file-sharing programs, but later admitted to having one on his computer.

In addition, Weinstein told investigators that if he saw any child pornography, he would immediately delete it.

However, he eventually confessed to searching for such images because he was curious “how they could get young kids like that.”

He also claimed that he had done no searches for more than a year.

The arrest report said goes on to say that Weinstein was adamant that a detective would find no images on his computer. When they showed him the six downloaded images, he admitted recognizing them.

Another search of Weinstein’s devices found more than 30 searches or files referring to child pornography.

Weinstein has no prior arrests in the state, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

He apparently spent several weeks calling and asking the detective when his devices would be returned, the arrest report explains.

The detective reported he told Weinstein that he had committed a crime and should consider getting a lawyer.

Yet, Weinstein continued to insist he “was just curious about child pornography and couldn’t believe he could be arrested for this,” according to the report.
