TALLAHASSEE, FL– A 23-year-old teacher is facing charges after authorities say she ran a fight club involving students out of her classroom.
Angel Footman, who teaches at Griffin Middle School, was taken into custody on April 5th.
School officials say they became aware of the situation after several parents brought photos and videos to them, showing the fights in the classroom.
Administrators say that while Footman did not select the fighters, she officiated the fights, failed to stop them from happening, and did not report the situation to them.
According to the reports, Footman gave the students “30 seconds” per fight and students could not scream, yell, pull hair or use their phones.
Officials also reported that some of the students were invited back for more fights and were called out of other classrooms to participate.
Footman is now facing charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
